Salamon Merkadić House

The construction of the two-story building, which was constructed around 1885, was solely built for residential purposes. The construction of the building was commissioned by the Jewish industrialist, entrepreneur, and landowner Salamon Merkadić, who was the owner of a brick factory and a steam mill. The steam mill, which was named Merkadić and Tasovac, was the first major industrial enterprise in Slavonia, which was founded in 1880 as one of the largest steam mills in Slavonia at that time.
