Antonius Radičević House

- Ulica Matije Mesića 33 -
The one-story residential building was built in 1897 for the city engineer Antonius Mathias Laurentius Radičević, who was born in Slavonski Brod on October 13, 1865. His father was Lovro Radičević, who in 1875 was the first teacher at the Civil School, and his mother was Magdalena Filipović. On December 26, 1891, Antun Radičević allegedly asked a girl named Emilija Magjarević to marry him and gave her a gold bracelet and a chain as a gift. He regretted this decision and decided to call off the engagement and asked her to return the bracelet and a chain. Since the fiancée did not want to return the gift voluntarily, Antun appealed to the Royal District Court in Slavonski Brod. This affair almost ruined his application for the position of city engineer, but in the end, he was allowed to work as a city engineer, a position he would hold for many years. Antonius Radičević passed away in 1924 in Slavonski Brod.
