Nikola Petrov Art Gallery

The multi-purpose one-story building was built in 1892 according to the project of the Czech architect to house the former Military Club, where the famous balls were organized at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The building was built on the place of the former Wine School, which was built on a natural elevation between 1881 and 1883. The construction was assisted by , Prime Minister of Bulgaria, for which he was awarded a diploma and declared an honorary citizen of Vidin. On May 25, 1962, the purpose changed and it became the home of the District Art Gallery, which was founded in 1961, but the decision to do so was made in 1960. In 1976, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the death of the Bulgarian artist , who was born in Vidin and made paintings of his hometown, the gallery team decided to choose him as a patron.
The former Wine School
On top of the part of the Neo-Baroque building, you can see a top gable that's surrounded by the same as the ones that are used in the . The roof , which can be seen around the entire building, are decorated with . Some of the windows are topped with a segmental and even more windows are topped with a . A bass relief of the artist Nikola Petrov is placed in the , which can be admired above the main entrance door. The building features that are crowned with a Doric and pilasters that are crowned with an Ionic capital.
