Hungarian School

The two-story educational building that housed the Hungarian School was built in 1890 during the period of Hungarianization. Hungarians settled in Slavonski Brod in large numbers at the end of the 19th century, parallel to the construction of branches in the Monarchy of the famous Hungarian Royal State Railway. Those mostly workers at the Railway and some other government services wanted their children to attend a Hungarian school, so they built it, right next to the railway station. During the , the building was converted into a hospital, and later on, it was used for the needs of the railways as an administrative building and it was used as a living space for railway employees. The of Slavonski Brod, which took place in 1944 during the , caused irreparable damage to the Hungarian School and the building was demolished soon after.

The top of the corner of the building, which was built in the Hungarian Art Nouveau style, was determined by a lantern tower and a top gable that contained a clock. Around the same height, you could see several dormers, two other gables, and a part that featured . The roof , which can be seen on both sides of the building, were supported by a lot of . The rest of the building, including the , is beautifully constructed with red bricks.
