The construction of the two-story residential building, which was executed according to the design of the Serbian architect , was finished in 1912. It was built for the Serbian wholesaler Milan Pavlović, who was the co-owner of the company called Braća Pavlović, together with his brothers Anastas and Vlajko. After the , Milan's wealth decreased significantly, so he was forced to sell the building, which then became the home of the Embassy of Great Britain. After the death of Milan Pavlović in 1924, the firm was run by the partners of the firm until 1947.

Later on, the building became the home of the Knez Mihailo Danube Horsemen's Club, popularly called the Jockey Club at the time. The building then underwent renovations according to the project of architect . The building was also modified in 1932 according to the project of architect Aleksandar Janković, and in 1939 according to the design of Aleksandar Đorđević.
