The construction of the two-story building, of which one floor was used for residential and the other for commercial purposes, was completed in 1900. It was built for the royal courtier and member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Nikola Jovanović, who was born in Niš in 1856. Before the , Milutin Petrović's clothing store was located on the first floor in one part of the building, and Tomić and Konjušin's haberdashery shop was located in the other part.

The dome on top of the turret is embellished with all sorts of geometric forms and crowned with a adorned with . The frieze that can be seen underneath the roof is alluringly decorated with a motif, which is interrupted by a decorative shell at some points. A straight supported by corbels is placed above the second floor windows, while underneath these same windows, you'll be able to see a richly decorated . On both the first and second floor, you can see several that feature a pretty unusual ornament.
