Dimitar Gazurkov House

The one-story building, which was constructed in 1898, was built for the Bulgarian entrepreneur, merchant, and owner of manufacturing shops, Dimitar Angelov Gazurkov. He was born in 1862 in Tutrakan, and at the age of 24, he became a volunteer in the . In 1896, he was an agent of the Commercial Bank in Tutrakan, and from 1894 to 1896, he became the mayor of Tutrakan. Together with his wife, he had three sons, Angel born in 1892, Georgi born in 1895, and Ivan who was born on November 29, 1898. Ivan, who graduated in medicine in in 1927, became a doctor, a profession he would pursue for 30 years.

In 1940, when the Romanians left Tutrakan, the roof of the building burned down and was rebuilt as a pitched roof covered with bricks. In 1940, a branch of the Bulgarian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank in Tutrakan was opened in the building, and later on, it became in use by the Tutrakan History Museum. During the restoration that lasted from 2003 until 2004, the authentic roof from 1898 was restored.

The restored scaly sheet metal mansard roof of the building, which was built in the Neo-Renaissance style with some Art Nouveau elements, contains various dormers that are all topped with a segmental . The frieze, which is interrupted by one of the dormers, is beautifully adorned with a floral motif. Above the windows, in addition to a straight pediment, you will also see a lovely female . In addition, the building contains many geometric shapes, including made of rectangular stone blocks.
