Bartsch House

The two-story residential and commercial building, which was constructed somewhere at the end of the 19th century, was built as one of the first ornate multi-story buildings in the city. The building, which was built according to the design of the architect János Hanzlian, was bought on May 1, 1907, by Ovary Sándor who opened a cafe on the first floor of the building. In 1920, a credit institution, known as Banca Marmorosch Blanc and Co, established in 1905 in , set up a branch on the second floor of the building. In 1938, the building was bought by the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate, and Bishop declared on May 7, 1939, that the future Episcopal Cathedral of Oradea was to be built on the site of the building. This was not realized, due to the outbreak of the and the lack of funds of banks with private capital.

On top of the building, which is built in the styles of Eclectic and Neo-Renaissance, you can see two domes in different shapes and sizes containing several dormers. Around these domes, you can see several balustrades that are adorned with decorative vases and . Underneath the roof , you can admire an motif and two strips of , one of which is embellished with foliage. A is placed above the second floor windows, some of which are adorned with a . Underneath some of the pediments, you can see two supportive , a , and two , while underneath the other ones, you can see various adorned with four . Some of the windows are flanked by columns or adorned with floral ornamentation, which are either crowned with a Doric or a Corinthian . Underneath these windows, you can either see a balcony or a , some of which are supported by corbels, but they're all incorporated with balusters. The first floor is made up of many stone blocks, including keystones that are placed above the circle-top windows.
