Elena Crețulescu Palace

The two-story residential building, which was built by a project that was created in 1902 by the Romanian architect , was constructed in 1903. The order for the construction was given by the descendant of two great boyar families, Elena Crețulescu, who was born on June 11, 1857, in . She was born in the family of the nobleman Constantin Crețulescu and , and upon her father's death, in 1863, she inherited the land and houses in Bucharest of her father. The monumental staircase of the palace led to a large park, arranged according to the tastes of Elena Crețulescu.

Elena was first married to General , from whom she divorced in 1883, and later, she remarried, this time with General . Elena's and Panait's son Dumitru Crețulescu-Warthiadi was born in 1885 and their son Constantin Crețulescu Warthiadi was born in 1908. In 1927, the Capital City Hall bought the palace from Elena Crețulescu, aged 70, who could no longer maintain it. In the following years, the space housed the Museum of Religious Art, and from 1972 until 2011, the building housed the headquarters of UNESCO's European Centre for Higher Education.

The building, which is built in the styles of Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque, you can see several tower-like structures, including some . Some of these structures contain dormers, which are crowned with a , which is also the case with the tower-like structures, although some of them are also crowned with . The building is lavishly embellished with loads of , , as well as several . On the corners, you can see a statue of a lion, which holds a shield in his pawns. The facades of the building are also embellished with several statues of dragons, as well as an eagle. The entrance on the northern side of the building is covered with a glass , while the entrances on the southern side are covered with a wooden awning. On the southern side, you can also see a cast iron and two wooden . There is also a , as well as a small , which are both supported by columns that are crowned with a Doric . They're secured with a stone balustrade that contains various , the same as those used in the banister. An alluringly large circular is placed on the eastern side of the building.
