The one-story building, which was originally built for residential purposes, was built in the nineties of the 19th century. The construction was commissioned by the Jewish entrepreneur and industrialist Rafael Hartman, who was born in 1846, in . He was a member of the company called E. & I. Mayer registered in , which sold poultry, eggs, and game, and in , he owned a company called Rafael Hartman and others, which was engaged in the same business. In addition to the house in Subotica, he built this villa in Palić. He was married to Rezika Tereza Šreger, with whom he had a son named Jožef, who was born in 1886. After the death of Rafael in 1913, his son took his place on the Board of Directors. In a later period, the building changed its function and became a post office.
