Josef Povischil House

The three-story building, which was built between 1903 and 1904, was constructed according to the project of the Croatian architect . The construction was commissioned for the owner of the Osijek furniture and tools factory, Josef Povischil, who was born in 1860. He partnered up with Rudolf Kaiser, and together they established the first Slavonian wood products factory. Josef separated from Rudolf in 1884 and founded his own factory. During the in 1915, a small house of mourning was built in the courtyard by the family after the death of their younger son, Josip. After the end of the , the factory was confiscated and operated under the name Mobilia Osijek for many years.

The part above the roof of the building, which is built in the styles of Eclectic and Art Nouveau, is decorated with a geometric motif, and two with a in their midst. The ornamentation above the third floor windows consists of a containing a , which is surrounded by floral ornamentation, including . The open parts of the pointed , which are supported by two adorned with , are adorned with a . The are adorned with an even more lavishly decorated mascaron, but in some cases also with a garland wreath, some of which are hung up by a ribbon. The four are either secured with a wrought iron railing or a stone balustrade that contains . The balustrade, which is part of a , is supported by two corbels that are adorned with foliage. Above the main entrance, in addition to a and a lovely wrought iron fragment that contains the initials of the former owner, you can also see a bust of the Greek god .
