Post Office Palace

The construction of the newly built Post Office Palace took place on a plot that was bought in 1911 by the Royal Postal and Telegraph Directorate to house post offices and a telegraph and telephone office. The building was built in 1912 by Ivan Domas and Viktor Aksman according to the project that was created by the Hungarian architect . The first working day took place on October 28, 1912, and without a special opening ceremony, all the officials and employees, led by the then director Brkić, entered the newly built Post Office Palace together. The then nineteen-year-old Olga Morc was the first employee who sat down at the new counter and received the first registered mail. In March 1913, the remaining telegraph and telephone devices were moved to the building. During the , the building was most severely damaged by a mortar projectile which, on December 20, 1991, directly hit the large hall on the third floor.
