Péter Tóth House

The plot on which the two-story residential and commercial building was built was purchased from the city in 1881 by the spice merchant Péter Tóth. He commissioned the construction and the plans for the building were drawn up by Nándor Jiraszek, whose company also played a leading role in the construction of the building. The construction was completed in 1882, the first shop on the first floor opened in May 1883, and the residence permit was issued in 1884. The building functioned as a bustling business house in the last decades of the 19th century, with industrial workshops and smaller shops, including hatters, confectioners, and winemakers. During the great housing shortage after the , civilian apartments with a large floor area were divided into several smaller apartments.

Another segmental pediment, which in this case is supported by two , is placed above some of the second floor windows, while above the other windows, including the first floor windows, you can see a . On the first floor, you can also admire loads of lion head , among which the ones that adorned the corbels that support the balconies. Also on the first floor, you can see a keystone adorned with a featuring the Greek god and four containing the initials of the former owner.
