Pécs County Hall

The four-story building, which was built on a plot where the houses of the Czyndery and the Cséby families once used to stand, was built as an administrative and commercial building. Emperor stayed in the Czyndery house during his visit to Pécs in 1770. The former two houses were bought in 1895 by the Pécs-Baranya Central Savings Bank, which had them demolished to build its headquarters here. The construction, which was on the plans of the Hungarian architect and the Hungarian-German architect , was completed in 1898. The base of the building, which later became the Pécs County Hall, was built with red sandstone from , while the ceramics were created in the local Factory.

The that's placed on the southern side of the building, which is built in the Eclectic style, is topped with a dome that's crowned with a lovely . The mansard roof contains a lot of little dormers, and the protruded part of the roof is topped with two finials within their midst . On top of the pointed part of the roof , which is embellished with , you can admire a beehive, which symbolizes frugality. In addition, you can also admire several surrounded by two piers, which are also placed on top of the roof cornice. The lovely spectacle that can be seen underneath the pointed part of the cornice features a bishop, two bees, , garlands, , and the years of completion shown in Roman numerals. The building is lavishly adorned with all sorts of floral decorations, including , which can be seen in the beautiful fragments and some of the balustrades of the . Some of the , which are placed above the second and third floor windows, are surrounded by volutes and in two cases topped with a cartouche. Some of these same windows are flanked by , which are all crowned with a Composite .
