The three-story building was built on the place where once the Roman forum of the city of Sopianae used to be. The current building, which was built in the period that lasted from 1902 until 1904, was constructed for residential and administrative purposes. The building was built according to the design that came from the hand of the Hungarian architect from , . The sculptural work was created by the Hungarian sculptor , and the ceramics were created by the Hungarian potter and sculptor, , all of which came from the Factory. The construction of the building is attributed to , who became the head of the Pécs post office in 1887, when the postal service was reorganized throughout the country. After the completion of the building, the post office of the city moved in and housed post and telegraph offices. According to the customs of the old days, postmasters were given a service apartment, and in this case, these apartments were located inside the building. At that time, three-room apartments were created for the postmasters, and the director had an even bigger apartment.

The roof of the symmetrical building, which is built in the Eclectic style with some Neo-Gothic, Neo-Renaissance, and Art Nouveau influences, is covered with beautiful ceramic roof tiles in all sorts of colors. At this same height, in addition to several dormers and , you can also admire a triangular fragment, surrounded by two impressive piers, which contains the of Hungary. The upper part of the building is beautifully decorated with and motifs, foliage, and , as well as circle-like shapes, including containing a posthorn. The frieze that can be seen at the same height contains many and , but in some cases also a .

The third floor contains many and windows, under which in some cases a fragment can be admired, in which a beautiful spectacle takes place. The beautifully decorated pointed that are above some of the second floor windows contain another posthorn. The building features various , two of which are more lavishly decorated than the others, and these two also include a statue of a female figure.
