Ferdinánd Mayer House

The two-story building, also known as the Black House, was built way back in 1857 originally as a residential building. The building, which was executed according to the design of the Hungarian architect , was constructed for the local ironmonger Ferdinánd Mayer and his family. In 1860, it was a casino for five years, and later on, it also functioned as a boarding school, and the editorial staff of the newspaper called Szegedi Híradó also worked there. Between 1917 and 1919, the headquarters of the Worker's Home was located in the library room, and on October 22, 1918, the National Council was established in this building. The house also functioned as a lawyer's office and a coal store, it was later nationalized, and the council moved tenants into it. In 1985, it became the property of the Móra Ferenc Museum, which was founded in 1883.

The , placed on the southwestern corner of the Neo-Gothic building, is topped with a crowned with a . The bottom of the turret pours into a column via a cone-shaped . The ornamentation on the turret and all around the facades of the building consists of pointed arches, , , and floral decorations. The building features some more turrets, which are smaller and topped with .
