Celje National Hall

The construction of the three-story building, which was built for cultural and administrative purposes, started in 1896 and lasted until 1897. It was built according to the design, created in 1895, that came from the hand of the Czech architects and . After the completion of the building, it became in use as the cultural and social center of the citizens of Celje. A public library operated in the building, where it was possible to borrow materials free of charge from 1906. Later on, the building became in use by the Municipality of Celje, the Administrative Unit of Celje, and the Art Gallery. It houses four halls where events, concerts, professional meetings, round tables, and meetings of the Celje Municipality City Council and its working bodies are held. The reconstruction of the facade and the corner tower-like structure took place in the period between 1988 and 1991.
The architectural project created in 1895
The tower-like structure of the Neo-Renaissance building is topped with a dome that contains a lantern tower crowned with a as a . The underneath the dome is supported by loads of , while underneath the roof cornice, you can see an motif and loads of embellished with foliage. The window, which is topped with a surrounded by two adorned with laurel twigs, is flanked by either crowned with a Doric or an Ionic . At the height of the mansard roof, which features many dormers, you can see several balustrades with incorporated as well as segmental and pointed . More keystones and pediments are placed above the third and second floor windows. Underneath these windows, you can either see a containing balusters, or an adorned with . The pilasters and columns that stretch all the way up from the second until the third floor and are adorned with , , and floral ornamentation, including , are all crowned with a Corinthian capital. The columns, as well as the corner , are all supported by corbels. In addition, the building also features two stating National Hall and Municipality of Celje.
