Baroness House

- Smetanova Ulica 25 -
The two-story building, which was built for residential and commercial purposes, was constructed in the period that lasted from 1902 until 1903. It was built according to the design of the Transylvanian architect and its construction was commissioned by the Baroness Emma Mixich Rast. Emma originally planned to build a building with a cafe and a large hall on the first floor and apartments, as well as a stage, a smoking area, or a buffet on the upper floor, which were changed before the construction started. In 1921, Adolf Klubička commissioned the construction of the mansard apartment, which was made after the plans by Ubald Nassimbeni.

It was saved from collapse by the University of Maribor in cooperation with the architect David Mišič and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, which, with the renovation in 2015, transformed the former residential building into a public facility intended for research and study activities of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Informatics.
