Great Club

The two-story building, which was built with a cultural function, was constructed in 1909 after the transfer of the plot from the Girls' School to the Philoptochos Brotherhood of Kyrion Kavala. The brotherhood built the building, which was inaugurated on May 22, 1910, to house the Hellenic Community Club of Kavala. In the period between 1913 and 1919, it was used by the Bank of , which transferred it in 1919 to the Ionian Bank at the same time that it was renovated. In 1936, the authorities and prominent citizens of the city welcomed and provided a meal for King in the building. In 1941, during the , the King of Bulgaria, , visited the building together with the Germans, who were still in the city. From 1944 until 1956 it was also used as a Military Club, and from 1956 as a Civic Gathering Club. From 1983 until 2003 it housed the Municipal Library of Kavala, and from 2003 until 2014, it hosted the Social Care Shelter and the Kavala Chess Club.

The that are located on the second floor are crowned with an Ionic , while the ones on the first floor are crowned with a Doric one. Above the circle-top windows that are located on the second floor, you can see a keystone, which is embellished with a . Underneath these same windows, you can either see a , or a balcony supported by two , while underneath the other windows, you'll be able to see an . The wrought iron railings of the balconets and the balcony are richly decorated with .
