Adolf Wix House

The three-story building, which was built for residential purposes, was built in 1906. It was built for the German Baron Adolf Wix von Zsolnay, who was born on September 30, 1866, in . He was the manager of the tobacco trading company called Herzog et Cie in Kavala, founded by the wealthy Jewish banker, grain and tobacco merchant, Baron Pierre Herzog. Adolf was married to Clara Amanda von Zsolnay, born on February 08, 1876m in , with whom he had three sons, Paul Peter Pavel, Friedrich, and Andy. Baron Adolf Wix von Zsolnay passed away on July 08, 1932, in , at the age of 65.

In 1925, the building was bought by an American tobacco company. Later on, it became the property of the company Glen Tobacco Company, and after that, it was owned by the heirs of the tobacco merchant Nikos Petridis. In 2019, after various changes in its ownership, it became the property of the Municipality of Kavala. Since then, some of its services, such as the Technical Services Directorate and the Planning, Development and Digital Services Directorate.

A very distinctively shaped top gable is one of the eye-catching features of the building, which is built in the Neo-Gothic style with traces of Neo-Baroque. The top gable features a containing the Greek letters Δ.Κ. (D.K.). If you look a bit further down, you'll be able to see two , one of which is flanked by that are crowned by a Doric . The balconies attached to these loggias are secured with a stone balustrade, one of which is incorporated with . A small simplified , supported by two , is placed above the main entrance door. Just right of the entrance, you can see a semi-octagonal supported by a cone-shaped corbel.
