Napoleon's Theater

The building, which had different functions over the years, was built way back in the 17th century as a one-story building. In 1810, during the reign of the French after the fall of the Venetian Republic, the building was converted into a theater with the name Napoleon's Theater. This theater, which was one of the first in the Balkans, was very important for the residents of Kotor and for raising cultural awareness in the city. The building served as a theater until the late 19th century when at the beginning of the 20th century it became in use as the town hall. In the 1979 , the theater building was one of the most heavily damaged in Kotor, but later completely restored, after which it became in use as a hotel.

On top of the building, which is built in the Neo-Renaissance style, you can see a stone balustrade, some parts of which contain several . Two strips of in different sizes are placed underneath the roof . The frieze underneath these dentils is lavishly decorated with all sorts of ornamentation, including and . A pointed is placed above the third floor windows, which are embellished with a decorative shell or another mascaron. Above these same windows, you can see two and a adorned with a , while underneath these windows, you can see various . The segmental pediments that are placed above the second floor windows, on the other hand, are embellished with a . The placed on this same floor are topped with , while the ones one floor up are topped with a .
