Adolf Hauptmann House

The building was built in 1873 for commercial and residential purposes and was one of the few buildings that survived the Ljubljana of 1895 almost unscathed. After the earthquake, the house was bought by the merchant Adolf Hauptmann, who was a paint dealer. He hired the Slovenian architect , who created a plan for the reconstruction, which was realized in 1904. The reconstruction was executed by the construction company of the Slovenian industrialist of Swedish descent, .

What immediately catches the eye, is the amount of colored ceramic tiles that are used to decorate the Art Nouveau building. The tiles are decorated with geometric and floral motifs, which increase in use towards the top. There you can also see a huge garland that connects the roof overhang with the rest of the building. The building also contains a , which is supported by two adorned with foliage and secured with a stone balustrade with incorporated .
