Municipal Savings Bank

The four-story building was built in the period that lasted from 1903 until 1904 with both a residential, administrative, and commercial function. The first floor premises were used to rent out to shops, the third and fourth floors for apartments, and the bank premises intended for dealing with customers were located on the first floor. It was built by a design that was created by the Austro-Hungarian architect for the Municipal Savings Bank, which was founded in 1889 and started operations on October 1 that same year. It was one of the first Slovenian financial institutions and due to its growing volume of business, the bank demanded a permanent building.

The construction of the new building was also strongly supported by the then Ljubljana councilor and later mayor, . In April 1902, the management of the savings bank announced a tender for a new building, and architect Josip Vancaš submitted plans to the management of the savings bank in May 1903, which were approved. In the same year, the management of the savings bank applied for a building permit, which was issued on August 11, 1903. Shortly after that, construction work began under the direction of the city architect and Slovenian builder , and the furniture was developed by carpenter Naglas.

The Art Nouveau building features two impressive statues depicting the Greek god and the Greek goddess . The six also predict the two gods. Above two of the entrances, you can see a balcony supported by two adorned with a lion head and acanthus foliage, while above the other entrance, you can see a majestic .
