Hotel Moser-Verdino

- Jacques-Lemans-Platz 2 -
The four-story building, which was built for residential and commercial purposes, got its current appearance by a renovation that took place between 1903 and 1907. The building was restyled according to a design that came from the hand of the Czech architect . In 1514, a small house was built on this plot, which was also used as a restaurant. In 1680, the Klagenfurt merchant Georg Struggl and his wife Elisabeth purchased the house and ran a hotel there. Son Martin took over the hotel, and after his death, his widow Maria Josefa continued to run the hotel. Maria Josefa later married her neighbor Josef Moser and they continued to run the hotel together. Johann Nepomuk Moser, Maria Josefa's grandson, continued to run the hotel. At the age of 78, he retired and passed the business on to his children. Viktor, his youngest son, rebuilt the hotel in 1860, added more floors, and provided the building with one of the red-tiled roofs, which was still rare in Klagenfurt at the time.
