Alexandru Drechler House

The three-story residential and commercial building was constructed in 1888 on the plot where the house of the then-county judge used to stand. In 1870, the owner of that building was a Greek named Sava Ermeliu, and behind the house, there was a small inn called Zur Heldenburg, which was owned by Georg Gross. In 1881, the inn was owned by Georg Depner until 1888, when the old Weiss house was bought by Alexandru Drechler from , who demolished it and erected a more modern building in its place. Alexandru was the owner of the then-famous Drechler Cafe, who in 1894, bought the premises on the first floor of the Rectoratul and removed the partitions to create a coffee house, which opened in January 1895. Alexandru's building was used as a hotel with a restaurant owned by the lessee Tunyogi, inside the courtyard called Europa. 's airplane was exhibited in the back room of the hotel in 1911.

In 1925, a small cinema called the Capitol opened in the back room, which would continue to exist in this building until 1938. From 1927 until 1930, the restaurant was rented by Alexandru Halmagiu who called it La Maiorul Mura with a terrace that he called Monte Carlo. In 1939, the hall was rented to Constantin Gusti, who also opened a cinema there, which was called Corso. After 1950, the Popular Cinema would operate here until 1990, when the Popular Cinema closed and the hall was rented to a private developer. A branch of the Marmorosch Bank operated on the upper floor, while the first floor was used as a shop for the Schul brothers and a silk shop owned by Dumitru Berbecar.

Two strips of are placed underneath the roof cornice of the Neo-Renaissance building, one of which is embellished with foliage. A pointed , as well as an adorned with a and two , are placed above the third floor windows. The third and second floor windows are flanked by , which are either crowned with a Corinthian or an Ionic . A is placed underneath these same windows, which contain a total of five . The upper part of the windows, which are located on the second floor, is lavishly decorated with floral decorations, including various .
