Spitzer Building

The three-story building, which houses commercial premises on the first floor and residential premises on the upper floors, was erected in 1868 according to the plans of local architect . The building was built by the order of the Catholic Church having the role of a boarding school for boys called Spitzer. The building was built with money that was won with a lottery ticket and then donated to the Catholic Church. The building was the first construction erected in the northern part of the bastion on the site of the medieval walls in the Curelarilor enclosure.

The roof of the Neo-Renaissance building is embellished with , which in their turn are adorned with foliage. The three pointed that are placed above the third floor windows, as well as the cornice that separates the second from the first floor, is also embellished with dentils. A straight pediment is placed above the other windows, some of which are supported by two and the other adorned with an motif. Some of the are beautifully decorated with and , while the others with a lovely motif. Some of the are crowned with a Corinthian , while the others with a Doric one. The parts underneath some of the third and second floor windows are decorated with floral ornamentation. The wrought iron railing of the features many , as well as the construction year.
