Georgi Kalinkov House

The house was built in 1907 for the doctor Georgi Ivanovich Kalinkov. This beautiful building was also designed by the Bulgarian architect .

Georgi Kalinkov was a Bulgarian politician and former mayor of Sofia. He was born on August 6, 1860, in the Bessarabian village of Tvarditsa, present-day Moldova. He graduated from the Classical High School and two years later he moved to the University of , where he graduated as a lawyer. He practiced his profession, working for several years as a lawyer, and later on, he managed to defend a dissertation on commercial companies at the University of and received the title of "Doctor of Laws". Georgi Kalinkov then returned to Sofia, where he worked as a lawyer for twenty-five years and wherein 1918 he became mayor of Sofia. He was a and was one of the founders of the Democratic Party in Bulgaria.

The most eye-catching part of the building are the external on both sides of the building. There is a small balcony on top of each oriel window, which can be accessed from the third floor. The two supportive cone-shaped give the oriel window a harmonious connection with the walls below them. There is a gable roof over each balcony, as well as in the center of the front facade, which also contains a , as well as a very simple . On the main facade, you can see two plaster molded of lion heads with a ring in the mouth to which a garland is attached. The rest of the facade contains many linear and circular geometric shapes. The entrance gate on the left side, as well as the entrance door, contains two more lion heads. If you look through the gate and above the second-floor window you'll see five squares with in them.
