Panayot Minkov House

The residential and commercial building was built in 1914 and was designed by the Bulgarian architect Todorcho Poltoshev. It was built for the Lieutenant Colonel Panayot Petkov Minkov who was a native of . The village Kabasakal was renamed to Colonel Minkovo in honor of Panayot Minkov, commander of the Eighth Marine Regiment in the . He fought in the so-called Dobrich epic against Russian and Romanian troops in September 1916. On September 7, 1916, near the village of Pobeda, he got severely wounded in the ensuing firefight but refused to leave the line. Prisoners of the 12th and 73rd Romanian and 243rd Russian Infantry Regiments were captured in the village, and thanks to the decisive actions of the 8th Regiment, the right flank of the Dobrich troops was secured. He died of his wounds in Sofia on September 30, 1916 and was buried in the capital.

The northern and eastern sides of the Neo-Baroque building are almost identical. Only the differ from each other, as the one on the eastern side is rectangular in shape, while the one on the northern side is semi-hexagonal. Underneath each of the windows on the second floor, you'll either see one or two . Above the windows, a garland was placed, as well as an unusually shaped . Another garland was placed above the windows on the third floor. Underneath these windows, you can see an , which is adorned with eight each. On top of each of the , you can see a decorative and above each of these cartouches, two like are placed that differ from the rest of the dentils. Another cartouche can be admired above the balcony door that leads to the balcony, which is located on top of each of the oriel windows.
