Zemstva Girls Gymnasium

The construction of the two-story building, which was solely built for educational purposes, started on May 24, 1881, with the laying of the foundation stone, and was completed on August 3, 1882. It was built according to a project that came from the hand of the architect Lonsky, and the supervision of the construction was provided by the architect Kurkovsky. The building was built to house the gymnasium for girls of the Bessarabian Zemstvo, which was a private gymnasium for girls that was founded in 1864 by Liubov Beliugova. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Saint Nicholas Chapel, whose assumed author was the architect Seroținski, was attached from the side of the courtyard.

On top of the part of the building, which was built in the style of Eclectic with Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Classical influences, you can see a . This part also features a , which is embellished with . A is placed around the same height, on top of the southern part of the building. On the second floor, you can admire several columns and , which are all crowned with an Ionic . A is placed above the second and first floor windows, of which the ones on the second floor are more lavishly decorated. The balustrade of the balcony, which is supported by two , as well as the , are incorporated with . Both entrances are flanked by four columns, which are all crowned with a Doric capital, but only one entrance is topped with another tympanum.
