Ștefan Serbov House

The one-story building, which featured both residential and educational functions over the years was constructed in 1870. It was built by Luiza Mişenko, the wife of a court councilor, who bought the previous building that stood here in 1870. The previous building was built in 1838 by the secretary of the college, Ivan Horjevsky, who sold it in 1854 to Iacob Organov, who in his turn sold the property to Luiza Mişenko. The current building was built according to the design that came from the hand of the Russian architect . The building was inhabited by engineer and industrialist Ștefan Serbov, who after graduating from the Technological Institute, visited the United States of America, where he gained an interest in the metallurgical industry. He became the founder of mechanical foundries, which served as the basis of the Hidromaşina Factory in Chişinău and the Litmaş Factory in . At a later time, it became the home of the Museum of the History of Education of the Republic of Moldova, which was founded in 1974.

Underneath the roof cornice of the Eclectic building with Neo-Baroque features, you can either admire a Greek key motif or several that alternate with squares. Underneath the latter, you can see a lovely wrought iron , which is lavishly decorated with , as well as . The straight that are placed above the windows, as well as their supportive corbels, are also decorated with volutes. There's also a placed above these windows, while underneath these windows, you'll be able to admire a fragment adorned with floral decorations.
