Villa Savoya

The construction of the two-story villa, which was solely built for residential purposes, took place in 1930 according to the design that was created by the Bulgarian architect . It was built for the Bulgarian dentist, farmer, and industrialist, Dimitar Atanasov Batakliev, who was born on February 13, 1900, in . His brother Professor was a geographer, and his sister was a teacher and journalist. Dimitar Batakliev graduated in dentistry in in 1925, and after returning to Bulgaria, he worked in Pazardzhik. Here, until 1957, he held the position of head of the dental department at the City Polyclinic. Since 1940, he has been the owner of a vacuum canning factory, which was nationalized in 1947. He died on July 25, 1971, in Pazardzhik.

In the period between 1950 and 1992, the villa was turned into the first tourist hotel in Borovets named Hotel Balkantourist. Later on, it was turned into a primary school, and later into the administration of the resort. Over the years, it was also briefly used as a hospital.

The tower-like structure in the center of the Eclectic building is covered with a , which is topped with a . Around the entire building, you can see some outstanding woodwork, including parts that predict the rising sun. The building features loads of , which are all secured with wooden railings. The building also features a , which is supported by several and also secured with a wooden railing.
