Karlovac Town Hall

- Ulica Ivana Banjavčića 9 -
The building, constructed for administrative and commercial purposes, was originally built in 1773 as a two-story building. The design came from the hand of the Czech architect , who came to Karlovac through a tender. In 1903, Doctor , who was elected mayor of Karlovac in 1903 and considered the founder of modern Karlovac, ordered the much-needed expansion of the town hall. In 1904, the Zagreb architect created the design for the extension of one floor, the mansard roof, and the Baroque entrance disappearance. Mayor Banjavčić spent most of his Karlovac political-administrative life in this building. The building housed the health office, market supervisor, veterinarian, archive, and city surveyor. Until the construction of the fire station in 1911, the firemen had their own warehouse here.
