Karlovac Cadet School

The current three-story building was built in 1686 on the plot where the residence and stables of General Herberstein used to stand. In 1770, a renovation was carried out, and in 1771, a permanent mason was hired to maintain the building. Another renovation was carried out in the period that lasted from 1873 until 1878, after which another floor was added and the building got its present appearance. After this renovation until the beginning of the , the building housed the Karlovac Cadet School, which was a branch of the school in that was founded in 1868. From 1919 until 1925, the Istrian Boarding School was located in the building, which cared for Istrian refugees from fascism. From 1922 until 1929, the Administration of the Primorje-Krajica Region was also located in the building. From the end of the in 1945 until 1990, the building was used by the Yugoslav People's Army under the name barracks. During the , the building was taken over by the Croatian army, which handed it over to the Polytechnic, which, after a thorough renovation, moved into it. Later on, it became the home of the Karlovac University of Applied Sciences.

The mansard roof of the building, which is built in the Neo-Baroque style, features a lot of dormers. The building also contains many straight, segmental, and pointed , as well as , which are all crowned with a Doric . The building also contains many stone blocks, including and .
