Fröhlich Palace

The three-story building was built in 1918 as a residential building with a building permit that was filed on August 16, 1917, and granted on September 19, 1917. It was constructed on the plot where the old three-story building of Abel Lukšić used to stand, which is thought to have been built during the French occupation between 1809 and 1813. The construction of the newly built building was commissioned by the brothers Mavro and Ljudevit Fröhlich, who were the sons of the wholesaler Albert Fröhlich. The sons improved their father's business and were also engaged in the production and wholesale trade. During the , the Fröhlich family perished in the .
The building during its construction
On top of the Neo-Renaissance building, in front of the mansard roof, a few balustrades can be seen featuring geometric and floral decorations. The part underneath the , which is located underneath the balustrades, is lavishly decorated with and an motif. The columns that are located on all of the floors are crowned with a Doric . The same counts from some of the on the first floor, while the ones that stretch all the way up from the second until the third floor are crowned with a Composite capital, and the pilasters between some of the windows are crowned with an Ionic one. Underneath some of the windows, you're able to see a with six incorporated , while underneath some of the other windows, you'll be able to see various . The spectacles above some of the windows consist of a featuring a surrounded by , a decorative shell, and foliage. Acanthus foliage is also used to embellish the , which are placed above some of the first floor windows.
