Bucharest Observatory

The two-story building was built for scientific purposes in the period that lasted from 1908 until 1910. The order for the construction was given by the Romanian Admiral, , and it was executed according to the design that was created by Romanian architect . It was built to serve as the Astronomical Observatory of the Romanian Astronomical Society Camille Flammarion, a society founded by . The observatory was equipped with a Zeiss telescope, the third largest in the country at that time. After the death of Admiral Vasile Urseanu in 1926, the telescope was dismantled and stored in the basement of the building, so the astronomical activity of the group ceased, and his widow, Ioana Urseanu, donated the building to Bucharest City Hall for a life annuity. The City Hall decided to host the Bucharest Pinacoteca in the building, a collection of paintings established on June 1, 1933, by royal decree, by King of Romania. On May 1, 1950, the Museum of Experimental Sciences was inaugurated in the building.

The building is built in the architectural style of Beaux Arts and features a on which the dome is placed that contains the telescope. On the north side of the building are two sculptural compositions depicting another sea creature being tamed or ridden by another putto. In addition to all this beauty, the building also contains a beautiful and a beautiful that covers the entrance on the west side.
