Matei Babinov House

The residential building, which belonged to Matei Babinov, was built in 1912. It was designed by the Bulgarian architect and the Italian architect Antonio Puglizi. For a certain period of time, the building was also the property of the Bulgarian architect Veselinov, who sold the place in 1942 to the clerk Ivan Markov. At a certain time, it was also inhabited by Liliyana Trakiyska, Penka Vasileva, and Maria Andonova.
The house in the 1970s
The hexagonal on the southwestern corner, of this Neo-Baroque building, really stands out. The bottom of the oriel window is decorated with multiple . The , which are present in abundance, are decorated with . The balcony on top of the oriel window is secured with an elegant wrought iron railing. Another cartouche can be seen in both of the gables. If you look closely you see that the of the gables are built up in layers, which gives them a multidimensional touch. Underneath the roof cornice, you can either see or . The corbels walk all the way down to the next cornice, where they are connected by a small cartouche, which is embellished with a decorative shell and a garland. More cartouches can be admired above and underneath the window on the second floor, as well as in the above the windows on the first floor. The beautifully decorated wrought iron gate leads to the richly decorated wood carved main entrance door. Above it, you'll be able to see a festoon, as well as the initials М.Б. (M.B.), which are the initials of the former owner.
