Jožef Gerber House

- Kongresni Trg 5 -
The four-story corner building was built somewhere after the of 1895 for the residential needs of the bookbinder Jožef Gerber and his family. It was built on a plot where a house used to stand that was first mentioned in 1623 when the tanner Miha Mrvec built a forge near his house, which he had to tear down. The house was demolished in the earthquake and Jožef Gerber built a new building on one-third of the former building site. Jožef, who inherited the plot from his father, the bookbinder Matija Gerber, lived in the newly built building together with his wife Ana Gerber, maiden name Bitenc, and his daughter Marta.
