Hermann Gyula Palace

The three-story building, which was built at the beginning of the 1880s by order of the Arad merchant Herman Gyula, was constructed with commercial premises on the first floor and residential premises on the upper two floors. Four luxury apartments were originally arranged in the building, and behind the building, a spacious courtyard and garden. The sculptural decorations were created by the sculptor András Tóth, including two statues depicting and , which no longer exist.

The building was built in the Eclectic style with some Neo-Baroque elements. The part underneath the roof , which makes a curved movement in the center, is decorated with an , , and motif, as well as two strips of , one of which is adorned with foliage. In the curved part, you can admire a , which can also be admired in various other guises in various other places. The one located on the , which are also embellished with two and supported with two , is decorated with a male . In the cartouche underneath these oriels windows, as well as the one above the main entrance, are adorned with a lion head . The corbels underneath some of the windows, as well as some that support some of the , are embellished with and some even with . Underneath the second floor windows, you can either see a lovely wrought iron or a balconet that contains . The four that stretch along the complete height of the second and third floors are crowned with an Ionic , which is adorned with and a . On the first floor, where you can also see several protruding stone blocks decorated with , including the , you can see some twisted columns that are also crowned with an Ionic capital.
