Izidor Frank House

The two-story corner building, which houses commercial premises on the first floor and residential premises on the second floor, was constructed in 1897. The design was created by the Austrian architect and master builder , who was one of the most important Osijek architects at the end of the 19th century. The building was built for the landowner, entrepreneur, and merchant Izodor Frank, who was born on November 1, 1847, in , as the son of Isak and Rosalia Frank. He became a native of Osijek in 1888, where he moved from Slovakia in 1877 as a representative of the wood trading company called Haas & Deutsch. Already in 1879, in agreement with the parent company, he founded his own company in Osijek for forest exploitation and wood export, in which he included his younger brother Julius. After his brother's death, he took his nephew Josip Frank as a partner, who remained in the company until 1905. After a full 32 years as the owner and founder of the company, in 1911 he retired, and the company was taken over by his sons Viktor and Aurel. Izodor Frank, who was married to Johana Anna Frank, passed away in 1920 in .
