The construction of the three-story building, which was built for residential and commercial purposes, began in February 1889 and was completed in that same year. Before the construction, a two-story inn used to stand in its place, which was owned by Mihajlović and bought bought from the heirs by the owner of the Osijek brewery, Cajetan Šeper. Already at the end of 1888, Šeper asked the Free and Royal City of Osijek for permission to build an inn on the site of the old one and got permission to do so. After the opening of the inn, which was called Zum Goldenem Kreutz, usual coffee house meetings and rituals, concerts, and other cultural events were regularly held in it, including some of the first cinematographic screenings organized by the famous cinema operator from .

The inn, as well as the cafe and restaurant on the first floor, was run by the innkeeper Josef Nagy for some time. At the beginning of the 20th century, on the second floor, freemasons from Osijek gathered and had a decorated Lodge in two rooms. The hotel, which later became known as Hotel Central, welcomed guests of European nobility, and various artists. It was a place where some known and unknown love adventures of princes and kings took place.

On top of the building, which is built in the style of Historicism, you can see two in between which you can alternately see and . The , which are located on the second floor, are adorned with a within their center. Underneath the , a containing a can be seen, which is surrounded by floral decorations. Some of the pediments are supported by two , which are either embellished with or foliage. Four more corbels are used to support the , which is secured with a lavishly decorated wrought iron railing.
