Ivan Milčetić House

The one-story building was constructed for residential needs in 1905 according to the design of the Italian builder and architect Valent Morandini. The building was built for the philologist, literary historian, ethnologist, and folklorist Ivan Milčetić, who was born on August 27, 1853, in the village of Milčetići on the island of Krk. Here he began his primary school education, and after the completion, he went to study at the High School. His teacher there was the historian , who greatly influenced him. After studying Slavic studies in and , Milčetić got a job at the Zagreb High School. Not long after, he was transferred to Varaždin, where he started a family and stayed for the rest of his life on October 26, 1921. While during the day he was focused on the duties of a high school teacher and family obligations, at night Milčetić was dedicated to research and scientific work. The results of that fruitful night's work, are those related to Glagoliticism as well as those from the fields of literary history, dialectology, and folkloristics.

On top of the Art Nouveau building you can admire some decorative vases and some beautiful iron works adorned with geometric forms and whiplash lines. The ornaments between the two , within the curved parts of the upper one, are embellished with floral and geometric decorations, as well as . The lower cornice is supported by a lot of , which in the contrinary of floral decorations of the ornaments that are placed on the , are adorned with geometric decorations.
