Ptuj Town Hall

The construction of the current building, which was built with an administrative function as the town hall of the city of Ptuj, lasted from 1906 until 1907. The construction of the building, which houses the seat of the city government, was ordered by Mayor . It was built on the plot where in 1571 the Dominicans built a building, which in the 18th century was owned by the merchant family Poskočil. At the beginning of the 20th century, the municipality of Ptuj commissioned a plan for a new magistrate from the architect Max Ferstl from , who designed the newly built building. The large windows overlooking the Town Square are made of colored glass made by Ptuj glassmaker Josip Kollenz. Before the , there was a tobacconist and a lottery shop located in the building, and for a certain period after the war, there was a gas station in front of it.

In the central part of the building, which is built in the styles of Eclectic and Neo-Gothic, you can see a tower-like structure that features a lantern tower covered with a bell-shaped tower that's crowned with a . The building features a total of three and two , all of which are supported by and crowned with another finial. The central oriel window, the one that contains a clock, is lavishly embellished with floral decoration, as well as two decorative shields. One of the oriel windows, which is placed at an angle of 45 degrees in comparison to the surrounding facades, features on statue on both of its corners. Above the main entrance, you can see a semi-circular surrounded by stating the name of the building and the years of construction.
