Villa Miralago

The villa, which originally got the name Villa Lugg in See, was constructed in 1893 with two floors that housed a residential function. It was built by the master builder Peter Missoni according to the design that came from the hand of the Austrian architect , who created the design in in 1892. The villa was built for the Austrian industrialist and landowner, Ludwig Urban Senior, who was born in Vienna, on August 4, 1854. Together with his brother Anton, he founded the company called Anton Urban and Sons. In 1912, the company acquired the Neunkirchen screw and nut factory of the Ternitzer Steelworks, the Ustroń ironworks of the Austrian Mining and Metallurgy Works, and the Sporysz factory near .

His son Ludwig Urban Junior, who was born on May 16, 1876, was also an industrialist but also a politician. After completing his studies, he became the managing director of the corporation into which his father's business had been absorbed. In 1906 he was involved in the founding of the Vienna Industrialists' Association and served as chairman of the association until 1921. In 1910 the family share of the business was transferred to him and in the following years, he continued to expand the corporation. During the , the company temporarily switched to armaments production and the Urban family of industrialists set up an ammunition and detonator department, among other things. After the war, he held several honorary positions in industrial associations. From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the State Council, and from 1936 also of the Austrian Bundestag. After the of Austria in 1938, he kept his posts in the family business. However, he is said to have been classified as an outspoken opponent by the National Socialists. Ludwig Urban Senior died on November 22, 1923, in Vienna, and his son Ludwig Urban Junior died on March 13, 1946.

The building was built in the style of Historicism and features two , which are covered with an onion dome that's topped with a . The underneath the domes are supported by loads of . Underneath certain parts of the eaves, you'll be able to see even more corbels and . Above most of the windows, a is placed, some of which are adorned with a , while underneath some of the windows, an embellished with or a with incorporated is placed. The building also features some wooden , as well as a balcony that's covered with a wooden .
