Nikola Imaretski House

The construction of the residential building was completed in 1914 and was built according to the design that came from the hand of the famous Bulgarian architect . The building was built for the Bulgarian director of the Statistical Bureau, Nikola Imaretski, and his family. Nikola became the director of the Statistical Bureau on January 18, 1899, when he succeeded his predecessor , who previously served as the director for six years. He fulfilled this position only for a very short time because, on April 14, 1899, he was succeeded by his successor , who also served for only three months.

The name Imaretski originates from Imaret Jamisi, of which Imaret means charity in Turkish. Every Friday, in front of the Imaret Mosque, later the Black Mosque, and even later the , there was a cauldron in which pilaf was boiled for the poor.

On the southwestern corner of the building that's built in the Eclectic style, you'll be able to see an octagonal . On the right side, the turret is connected by a balcony, which is secured with a wrought iron railing, and on the other side, the balcony is connected to a semi-hexagonal that contains a beautiful wooden . On the west side of the building, you can see an octagonal bay window with another balcony to the right of it, which in this case is secured with a cast iron railing. On the third floor, you can see many ornaments that are decorated with garlands, among which are and . Also, some of the second floor window frames and are embellished with garlands. The , which are adorned with and are located underneath the second floor windows, also contain a festoon. The premises is unclosed by some beautifully decorated wrought iron gates that are constructed in the style of Art Nouveau. They're adorned with loads of , which is also the case with the that support the that covers the main entrance door.
