Benö Mahrer Palace

The two-story corner building, which was built as a residential and commercial building on a plot where a one-story building used to stand, was built in the period between 1910 and 1911. The building, which was built for the ironmonger Benö Mahrer, was built by the design that came from the hand of the Hungarian architect Béla Kemény. After 1949, the building was nationalized and used for banking purposes, and later, it was the headquarters of TUZEX, a store where foreign products were sold for vouchers that replaced foreign hard currency. After 1980, it was home to state institutions, and in more present years, following its renovation, Prima Banka has its office here.
