Royal District Court

In 1906, the construction entrepreneur Július Grün bought a building plot on which he built a magnificent two-story building that same year for the needs of the Royal District Court in Žilina. The building with the of Hungary on its facade, which was removed after 1919, served the needs of the court until 1939 when it moved to another building. The building was bought in 1926 by the wood merchants Emanuel Ellenbogen and Jozef Preiss. In 1934, the Bank House of the Frankl family was located here, and for some time, the Post Office I was located on the first floor and second floors. The Customs Office was also located on the first floor, and some premises were used by the Purchasing Center of Food Cooperatives, the German Credit and Commercial Bank, and several smaller shops. During the , the annex in the yard, which housed the court prison was used by the German occupiers. The building was bought at an auction in 1955 by the State Roads of Žilina. In 1970, after the building was renovated the Žilina convenience store called Potraviny Zdroj moved into the first floor.

A is placed on top of the of the building, which is built in the Eclectic and Neo-Classical styles. In the tympanum, in addition to , you can see the year of construction surrounded by floral decorations on the place where the coat of arms was located. More dentils are placed underneath the roof , and certain parts of the frieze underneath these dentils are embellished with circles and adorned with . Above the straight windows on the second floor, you can see a and a pointed supported by two , while above the circle-top windows, only a keystone can be admired. Only underneath the last mentioned windows, a can be seen, in which a total of six are placed. The , which are located on both the first and second floors, are all crowned with a Doric .
