Ignác Kalina House

The two-story residential and commercial building belonged to Matej Cepan from around 1700 until 1731, but his descendants Alojz Fluck and his sister exchanged it in 1788 with Jozef Karas. The latter had a dyeing workshop here which he sold in 1807 to his son Jozef. The next owner, until 1848, was Anton Kalin, the mayor of Žilina from 1834 until 1838. After Anton Kalin, it was inherited by his son Ignác, who was also the mayor of Žilina, but then from 1860 until 1866 and from 1875 until 1877. In 1888 it was bought by the newly-founded bank, the Žilina Assistant Bank, which on December 11, 1920, became part of Tatra Bank in . The original building was demolished in 1890 and rebuilt in its current form. The building was nationalized in 1955 and forty years later, in 1995, the building was completely renovated.

On top of the part of the Neo-Renaissance building, you can see a , which, like the roof , is adorned with . The avant-corps is embellished with two and contains a , which is topped with a and secured with a stone balustrade that contains a total of seven . The are crowned with three different kinds of , that is, a Corinthian, a Doric and an Ionic. A pointed is placed above the two . On the first floor, there is an that continues around the entire square.
