Sisters of Mother Theresa House

- Dolný Val 24 -
The two-story building was built somewhere at the beginning of the 20th century, somewhere between 1900 and 1910. The building was built as a new building on a plot where an older building used to stand. In 1849, that building was owned by Štefan Belák, whose family lived in that building until 1900. Other owners of that building were Ján Folkman, Doctor Jozef Hoffmann, and his wife Mária Vicenová. At that time, the building was owned by Mária Vicenová who donated it to the Capuchins and kept only one room for herself. In December 1999, after the departure of the Capuchins, the Missionaries of Charity, Mother Teresa's sisters, came to Žilina and moved into the building. The courtyard wing of the current building, on both floors, consists of sanitary facilities accessible from the living room.
