District Workers Insurance Company

The three-story corner building, which was constructed between 1923 and 1924 for administrative and commercial purposes, was built as office space for the District Workers Insurance Company, which was established in 1907. The construction of the building, which was executed by the well-known Žilina firm Karol Grün and Son, was designed by the architect and builder Eugen Bárta from . Medical practice began in the building in October 1924. There were pulmonary, nasal, throat, ear, skin, dental, internal and surgical departments. The building also housed a laboratory, a bathhouse, and the administration of the insurance company. The insurance company provided the largest services for the residents of the city and the surrounding area at that time.
The project of Eugen Bárta
The Workers' Social Insurance Company, which was established in November 1940, took over the building and renovated it in 1941. After the , the building passed into the hands of the Central Social Insurance Company and after February 1948 to the National Insurance Company. After 1951, the building was acquired by the Ministry of Health, which established a polyclinic here. In the 1970s, the polyclinic provided health care for several city districts, district health centers in adjacent villages, district health districts and district medical stations. In 2003, the interior and attic spaces were renovated, creating more space.
