Villa Milan Kohút

The one-story residential building, which was constructed on a plot bought in 1902, was built in 1904 for the lawyer Doctor Milan Kohút and his wife Elena, maiden name Milcová. Milan Kohút was born on July 17, 1868, in , in the bourgeois family of Jozef Kohút. Milan Kohút was the legal representative of the Cellulose Factory in Žilina built in 1905. The family lived here until the death of Milan Kohút on December 9, 1905. The building was inherited by his wife Elena, and his daughters Alexandra and Edita, however, they did not live there and the building was rented out. From 1915 until 1928, the building was rented out and was used as office space for Doctor Glásel and Engineer Bittčanský. In 1938, the building was occupied by Milan Kohút’s wife Elena, and her married daughter, Doctor of Medicine Edita Ottlýková, who lived with her husband Doctor of Law Ivan Ottlýk, and their daughter Alexeja and son Mikuláš. In 1947, the family moved to , and Doctor Ján Fábry, a gynecologist, moved into the house where he lived and also worked. The villa was owned by Elena Kohútová and her daughter until 1952 when it was taken over by Mäsopriemysel Žilina. From 1960, the building was used by Žilina Bakeries, and after that, other state-owned enterprises operated in the building, in 1991 there was the Agricultural Project Institute Žilina.
The Cellulose Factory Milan Kohút worked for
The roof on top of the part of the Eclectic building contains a dormer topped with a pointed and adorned with . The frieze in this part features, in addition to loads of , a surrounded by foliage. The that support certain parts of the roof are also adorned with acanthus foliage. The decoration above the windows consists of either volutes and floral decorations, or a decorated with either a or a lion head . The , some of which feature three circles, are crowned with a Doric .
